CMT2 - Professional Training: 250 Hours

The CMT2 Professional training provides the opportunity for CMT1 graduates to deepen their understanding and exploration of bodywork through advanced training and review, assisting CMT1 students and one-day seminars in various bodywork modalities with guest instructors.

CMT2 Class Content:

Assisting Under Instructor's Supervision with CMT1 Instructor. CMT2 students assist by observing, evaluating and tutoring CMT1 students. In the process, the assistants further their own understanding of and ability to use the techniques.

Assistant Training and Review with CMT1 Instructor. CMT2 students meet with the instructor and are given guidelines for assisting the CMT1 students throughout the course. In review sessions, the CMT2 assistants observe and give suggestions to improve body dynamics and technique of the CMT1 students.

Dynamic Integration Bodywork with Brad Wathen. This workshop is designed to give participants tools for working with deep levels of contact. Students develop sensitivity and explore the dynamics of working more deeply with their clients.

Putting It All Together with Jim Butcher . Throughout the CMT1 and CMT2 training, many bodywork techniques and principles are learned and developed. In this segment, we will explore integrating what has been learned into a full-body massage session.

Autonomic Nervous System with Shera Banbury. Students are introduced to the autonomic nervous system, how to recognize its function and effects on the other systems of the body and how massage can effect change within the system.

Body Reading, Posture and Emotion with Lisa Biow. Students will use body reading, postural evaluation and listening skills to assess which areas of the body most need attention. Then they work with gentle touch, breath, sensation, and dialogue to treat these areas. Following treatment, students will reassess for any postural, energetic or emotional changes. Also, discussion of the role of the bodyworker in working with emotions that arise during bodywork sessions.

Conscious Embodiment with Robin Nichols. Deepening our presence, awareness and responsiveness to ourselves as well as to our clients can enhance the benefits of the massage session for both giver and receiver. Students will learn basic exercises from Conscious Embodiment Training as developed by Wendy Palmer.

Intuitive Development with Edy Britts. This course focuses on increasing the practitioner's self-awareness through guided meditation and intuitive techniques.

Oncology & Massage This section of CMT2 is taught by instructors who specialize in different aspects of relating to cancer, recovery and end-of-life care. Three supervised clinics focus on:

Massage for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (P.T.S.D.)

$3015 when paid in full two weeks before class start date

CMT2 Internships:

Public Clinic with guest instructors. Students massage the public in a series of four supervised clinics. Lecture before and discussion and critiques following the massages help students to improve their practice.

Massage for Oncology & Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. This class will inform students of the most recent research results and bodywork practices pertinent to the needs of clients living with or recovering from cancer and P.T.S.D. Includes acupressure, reflexology, and specific flows and protocol for working with cancer patients. Reflexology and acupressure flows are taught to help support the client's immune and other body systems, as well as to help balance and elevate emotions. This part of CMT2 training includes two internships: 1) Oncology Care, working with oncology patients from Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, and 2) Working with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (P.T.S.D.) under the supervision of Mary Tendall, MFT. PSoM clinics offer therapy treatment for Combat Veterans with P.T.S.D. Students give weekly massage sessions to cancer patients and to Veterans.
